PRIVATE CLASSES

Call for an appointment for a private class in knitting, crochet, cross stitch, embroidery, or any other types of needlework. You can make up your own class, with up to 3 students sharing the private class, at the private class rate of $30.00 per hour. If Susan cannot help you, she will try to recommend someone who can. Appointments will be made weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with some Saturday availability.

KNITTING SOCKS
Saturdays, April 26th, May 3rd and17th

Let's face it: knitting socks is not cheaper than buying them, BUT! There is nothing that fits as well or feels as cozy as a hand-knit sock.  Once you know a couple of tricks about heels and toes, you can turn them out almost without thinking.  Wonderful to own, wonderful to give, wonderful to wear.  We will start with socks on double point needles, then work on the magic loop.

THE MAGIC LOOP
Saturday April 26th

This class is technique only.
 There will be no project.  You must be proficient in casting on, knit and purl.  In this class you will learn a method which can be used in all types of circular knitting so that you will not need to use double pointed needles and you can knit 2 socks at the same time.  Quite interesting!!!  You will also learn a new cast on to keep the top of your socks from becoming too tight.

BEGINNER CROCHET

Let's learn to crochet.  Get together with your friends and sign up for this beginning crochet class.  We are seeing more and more beautiful crochet patterns.  In this beginner class you will learn the basic stitches while making a wash cloth, very practical, very useful.  Learn the basics with Terrill and then the crochet world is open to you.

Come and join our very talented teacher, Susan MacLeod and learn how to tat.  Tatting is an old lace-making skill that is enjoying a renaissance right now.  You can use your newly learned craft to make edgings for your linens - or make lace jewelry for yourself or for gifts.

So may people have been meaning to learn to knit and now knitting is becoming more and more fashionable, so here is your opportunity!  The class project is a hat knit on circular needles with decreasing done on double pointed needles.  You will learn to cast on, knit, purl and to decrease.

GRANNY SQUARE PROJECT

Now continue in the renewed interest in the "ole time" granny square crochet.  Learn to make those versatile colorful crochet squares that can be joined into beautiful afghans, baby blankets, purses, vests, scarves, hats, etc.  Terrill will guide you through the motions and stitches of the granny square.  Come in to see what it is all about.  You need to know the basic stitches or have attended the beginner crochet class.

KNITTING TECHNIQUES - Fair Isle Color Work

This class is technique only.
The term "Fair Isle" is used to describe all kinds of color knitting that involve using two or more colors all across a row (as opposed to larger blocks of" intarsia" colorwork).  This technique is central to all color knitting and can be learned quite easily in one session.  You will learn to knit and purl with both hands and to weave the yarn in while creating your works of art.  No more tangled balls of yarn!

SOCKS - CABLE AND LACE COMFY SOCK

EASY LACE COTTON SCARF

Never knit lace before?  Come and learn how to make this simple, but elegant lacy cotton scarf.  If you want to learn how to knit from a chart and use increasing and decreasing to make lace, this is the class for you.  You must be able to knit and purl to be in this class.  A perfect class for beginning lace knitting.  Come in to see the sample that Gemma has knit.

FINISHING TECHNIQUES - CARDIGANS
Saturday June 14th
9 a.m. to Noon
Instructor: Susan Vaiciulis

This class is technique only.
If you have been afraid to make a cardigan because of the button bands and buttonholes, come in for this class.  We will practice one row buttonholes, picking up stitches to make the bands lie flat, stitching bands onto the sweater.  We will discuss all the issues pertaining to cardigans such as length of bands, placement of buttonholes, and styles of button bands and their effect on the sweater.  We will also discuss and practice seaming and other details that will make your sweaters professional looking.

Payment of the class fee or materials deposit is the only way to reserve your place in the class.
Fees for classes do not include materials.

Materials may be purchased on the day of the class.
